3 Things to Know about Cars 3

Posted on June 16, 2017 by captaincreed

The wait is over. Lightning McQueen is back in Cars 3.

Here are 3 things you need to know about the new movie Cars 3!

  1. Can you see the movie if you haven’t seen the other two?

In a word. Yes. The plot does fit in with the backstory of the previous two movies, however, the movie does offer a number of flashbacks to fill in any blanks that you may have. I took my son to see the preview of the movie and he doesn’t remember seeing the first one (he is 6), but he had a great time watching this one and was able to easily follow the plot of the film.

2. Are our favorite characters back in this film?

While I don’t want to give any plot points away, I feel very comfortable stating that there are a number of familiar faces (or hoods because they are cars) and even some new ones thrown into the mix.

Suffice to say, our good friend Mater is back and he is bringing the laughs with him.

3.  So wait, what’s it about?

Here’s the official synopsis:

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (voice of Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (voice of Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage! Directed by Brian Fee (storyboard artist “Cars,” “Cars 2”), produced by Kevin Reher (“A Bug’s Life,” “La Luna” short) and co-produced by Andrea Warren (“LAVA” short), “Cars 3” cruises into theaters on June 16, 2017.

The bottom line:

My son is still talking about this movie. It has everything you would love to see in a kids’ movie – it is enjoyable for kids and parents, it has strong themes/lessons, lovable characters, memorable scenes, and laughs – there are lots of laughs. This is a movie that the entire family will enjoy. So grab a ticket and enjoy the ride.

My audition for the new Most Interesting Man in the World. Actually, it's just me sitting by the fire waiting for the power to come back.
