Lately, the news has been congested with negative stories. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by it. However, I’m here to tell you that there’s kindness every where. And it’s #kindawesome when you stop and see it.
It’s certainly cool when a company makes you stop and look at kindness – and acknowledge it. The #kindawesome program is one that spreads kindness by celebrating kind acts.
KIND, the company, has been on a mission since day one to inspire and celebrate kindness. This particular program also resonates with parents as they teach their children the importance of kindness at a young age.
In conjunction with World Kindness Day, KIND unveiled shareable cards to recognize kind acts. Essentially, the company gave you the right to card kindness. And it was fun.
When you pull the cards out of the black sleeve, they say that you are #kindawesome. That little detail may have been the thing that made so many people smile – and that was BEFORE they realized that they were getting a little snack pack (of two KIND bars) sent to them in the mail.
It made me happy to walk up to someone and say “You’re kindawesome.” There are people we see every day whose kind acts we can take for granted – the co-worker who smiles and asks how your day is every day, the teacher who goes out of her way to make your child feel welcome, or the friend that always sends a text message to you just to check in. There are even strangers who are kind.
I think my favorite occasion was when my daughter gave a card to her dance teacher. She opened it up, immediately smiled, and thanked my daughter with a hug. It’s nice to know that there are so many good people in your life. It’s even better to be able to acknowledge them.
The original version of these cards were only available to the KIND team. These new cards, however, empower anyone in the KIND community to actively celebrate the kindness around them. This program not only helps me understand how important it is to recognize the acts of kindness happening around me every day, but also encouraging my children to do so as well.
And it has been cool to see, in my community of bloggers working on this campaign, how others are recognizing kind acts in strangers, neighbors, and friends.
