One Small Step For Health

Yesterday, The Captain had the opportunity to visit the WTHR Health and Fitness Expo at the State Fairgrounds. I was gifted a Swag Bag and free tickets. My daughter had a birthday party to attend so my visit was brief.

I was one of several bloggers down at the Expo. There is a great write-up from the Indy Geek Girls on 5 Reasons Why You Should Attend and my blogging colleague, and friend, Jason wrote about finding inspiration at the Expo. You should check out both of those.

As far as what I gleaned from the experience? Health and Wellness have so many layers. We have learned a great deal about the body, and are still learning more.

At the Expo, there is a huge area for screenings. This wasn’t your average convenient store blood pressure check – there were stations to draw blood to find out your cholesterol level. Places to check your weight, blood pressure, etc.

Interested in fitness, but afraid to plop down money before you can try the workout? I literally walked through a mass of people doing a trial of a Boot Camp. And they were SWEAT.ING. They also seemed to have a lot of fun working out.

What about the kids? There was a great deal of information for them and parents of how to get active and stay healthy. Whether it involved good eating habits, sampling gymnastics, or running football drills – there were ample activities for the kids. Today, Doc McStuffins makes an appearance – is it time for your check up? 🙂

There were booths that offered information, supplements, and/or services that helped you with anything from teeth whitening to allergies, chiropractic care, memory loss, vision, and many other aspects of wellness.

The bottom line? Health and Wellness aren’t just limited to a few short bylines of an instructional book for your body. It seems overwhelming, but it doesn’t need to be. There are a ton of resources available to help you at the WTHR Health and Fitness Expo.

Oh, did I mention you get a free pedometer? Go ahead and take that one small step towards better health and fitness. Today.
