Backseat Symphony

Captain’s Log. Diaper Date 2016. Daddy Chronicles.
I am the greatest car karaoke singer in the world. At least that is what I believe. I’m a ’90’s R&B/Broadway Show tunes type crooner. And I bring the house down every time I perform – which was on a daily basis until The Eldest started riding to school with me every morning. Now I play The Pips to her Gladys Knight. I’m the back-up. Which is fine.

Today we added another dynamic- The Diaper Dweller inserted himself into the show. The boy has heart, but lacks the timing.

So we were driving back from picking up the boy when I cue up the Winter anthem “Let it Go”. Surprisingly, the boy knows the words well, but he is about two full beats behind – so it gives the effect of the two kids singing the song in a round. Or if you want to consider it hip hop style, the boy is the hype man to my daughter playing the MC.

I’m sure we wouldn’t sell any records, but it brings a smile to my face knowing that I have passed on the trait of car karaoke to my heir and heiress. Maybe one day we will even hit the karaoke circuit and people will scream our names.

Or better yet, maybe one day we will drive to Florida and I will break out my mixtapes from middle school and high school and take this show on the road.

In the meantime, I guess we better just keep rehearsing.

That’s all I’ve got for now…Captain out.
